Listening Blog 11 - Week 12/6

As my final listening blog for this class I had to talk about the iconic song Super Bass by Miss Nicki Minaj. As a fellow barb I knew that this was the song I had to end this semester with. Miss Nicki has never failed me with her music and this song in general will live on forever. First of all the beginning of the song starts with the beat that almost feels like you are ascending into the world of Nicki Minaj. Then she comes in with the rap. Not only is this rap so well written it's quite literally addicting. Minaj’s voice makes you wanna just stand on a table and shout this song, which I have done many times. The lyrics and the beat flow so well together and match the energy of the song so much. Nicki is a lyrical genius so listening to her word play throughout her music is so satisfying. The feelings in this song are mainly about love and how it makes one feel. The target audience is everyone, when this song comes on at a party everyone instantly knows the words. This song has this generation in a chokehold and I’m not even mad about it. Long live the barbs xoxo

    I could not agree more with your blog post. This song is a masterpiece and I don't think I will ever not be obsessed with it. This is one of my favorite party songs and another person comes out of me when I hear it. You worded how this song makes people feel perfectly. I love it.

For this weeks blog I decided to talk about the iconic song Fuck The Police by N.W.A. Now if you don’t like the word fuck don’t read this blog. This song was and still is a banger and is still relevant as hell in today's society. This song was controversial and made a lot of people mad but they were using music to express how they felt. This beat of this song is so good and the added commentary throughout the song makes it 10x better. I love the way they simply went in on this song and did not care about the consequences of the lyrics.
