This week I decided to analyze the song What’s Going On by Marvin Gaye. I think it's safe to say that a solid amount of people were conceived to Marvin Gaye during this time haha. This song on the other hand is a little deeper than his usual music. He talks about how there needs to be more loving in the world and not so much violence. He says “We don't need to escalate. You see, war is not the answer. For only love can conquer hate” and follows up with “Picket lines and picket signs. Don't punish me with brutality. Talk to me, so you can see...Oh, what's going on”. These are some strong lyrics and portray the message that violence is not the answer and things can simply be talked through. This conveys an emotion of peace and harmony within the audience and creates a sense of unity. The audience is definitely everyone who needs to hear the message. Marvin Gaye’s voice is perfect and blends beautifully with the instrumental. This song makes me want to give someone a hug and literally provide world peace or something haha. I love this song and think it's still relevant today and should be heard by many!
This song really makes you think about how much chaos there really is in the world. I think this song could be used as symbolism if people actually read in to the lyrics like you did. This was really good !
ReplyDeleteI love songs like this. Where you just want to get up and give someone a sincere hug and just make the world a better place. The world is crazy and sometimes you just want someone to help you when you're going through it. I also really enjoy songs when the performer and the instruments just work so well together. It really makes the song ten times better.
