Listening Blog #5 - Week 10/18

The song I chose this week was La Bamba by Ritchie Valens. Now I’d be lying if I said I’d never heard this song before. This song was played in my house growing up all the time. I remember running around the house just singing the words “bamba bamba”. It feels in a way nostalgic for me listening to this song. I love the way this song makes you want to get up and dance. The lyrics translated literally talk about dancing saying, “To dance the Bamba, one needs a little grace”. You really don't have to understand the lyrics to the song for it to make you want dance. The instruments of this song fit into the rock and roll aspect of this section. The guitar is the highlight of the instrumentals but also the beat that flows in with the guitar brings it full circle. The guitar solo that plays towards the end of the song is so dope and I love the way it flows so well with the song. The target audience is definitely people who just want to get up and dance. This song is definitely one of my favorites and will always be a banger.

  1. I like how you mentioned that you grew up listening to this song and that it is nostalgic for you to listen to. I honestly feel the same way. I remember first hearing this song in school in like first grade and ended up really liking it. I agree that the song makes you want to dance because it is fun and upbeat. I also really enjoy the guitar solo in the song. Good job!
