Listening Blog #4 - Week 10/11

For this week's blog post I decided to listen to Have Mercy Baby by The Dominoes. This song is about asking their lover for forgiveness because they lied and cheated on them, but they want them back. The beat of the song is very upbeat and makes you wanna dance around, which is funny because the lyrics of the song alone have such a different vibe. The lyrics are somewhat sad as he begs for “mercy” or forgiveness, but the music is so upbeat it almost makes the lyrics come off as a joke. The vocals are amazing and match the instrumentals so perfectly. I love the saxophone solo that is played in the middle of the song, it almost ties everything together. I feel like the audience of this song would just be people who want to dance and have fun, although the lyrics speak differently. I actually like this genre of music and I have a whole playlist dedicated to this genre or time period of music. I like this song a lot because it has a really fun beat to it and makes me want to go to like an old 50’s dance and just swing dance w friends.

  1. First off I really enjoy the title of your blog so thank you for that haha. Secondly you did amazing on this post! I really feel like I was listening to it as you were explaining it. It reminds me a lot of Everybody's Got Somebody But Me by Hunter Hayes and Jason Mraz. (Hopefully you have heard it, if not you should totally try it out!) Jut with the whole depressing lyrics but bopping music kind of thing. Great job on your post! :))
