Listening Blog #1 Week 9/20
The song I chose to evaluate is Ain’t Misbehavin’ by Louis Armstrong. I have always loved listening to Armstrong since I was a little girl. He was a huge part of my childhood from Dream A Little Dream Of Me to La Vie En Rose, he’s always been a favorite artist of mine, so of course I wanted to evaluate this song of his. When I listen to this song, it makes me feel a sense of happiness. It feels almost like a memory that's been locked away and is now being discovered again. This song is a love song and who doesn't love love? The lyrics talk in a way of saying “don't worry babe i’m not misbehaving i'm simply saving my love for you.” It's a song of reassurance for the girl he loves. The instruments in the background go so well with the song with this flowy melody that plays along with it. It gives off the energy as if you were dancing in the kitchen at two in the morning with the love of your life. The target audience is truly anyone that's been in love or falling for someone so hard that you don’t want anyone else. This is my favorite song from this first unit because I think that it's so perfectly written and flows beautifully with Armstrongs raspy vocals. The more I listen to it the more I want to twirl around and dance to it. It's simply beautiful.
Hey Raven, I think that's so cool that you have been a fan of Louis Armstrong since you were little. You also have a very unique and awesome way of visualizing the scene that the song is expressing, and don't think I have ever wanted to dance in the kitchen but I might next time I hear this song.
ReplyDeleteOk first off: this grey on yellow theme ain’t for me. However your take on the song is pretty good. You did a pretty radical job explaining how you want to groove. And it’s cool to see others with deep connections to some of the songs in this class. Good job!
ReplyDeletehello Raven, I love how you expressed how you love Louis Armstrong strong. its pretty cool how you tell us why you love his songs so much. Its so cool since you were small you heard his songs. I like how you express that every time you hear more and more the music you would twirl and dance around to it.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because since a kid I would always listen to Louis Armstrong and Nat "King" Cole. My grandparents played Jazz every weekend and it always put a smile on my face. I'm glad you would dance while you listened to it more and more. Such a great review to a great song!
